I am a novice at DVD authoring. I have a number of tapes, VHS and
8 mm
analog, that I want to convert to digital and then burn to a DVD
which
can be read on any standalone player.
hardware: P4 1.7, 256M, 120GB hd, ATI TV Video Wonder
software: ATI MMC, Sonic MyDVD ( bundled version - does not appear to
allow analog capture), Nero 6.
Can it be done with this setup? If not, what s/w will I need?
Is the standard resolution for DVD 720 x 480? The ATI software
does not
offer this option. Should I be converting to VCD standard 352x240

MPEG-2?

Thanks anyone.
A follow-up:
Have been to several sites looking for more info but still don't have
the answers I need.
For example, the video chip in my ATI card is a BT878 which is
apparently capable of high-res captures, ideally 720 x 480. However the
ATI s/w ATIMMC.exe does not offer this capture resolution: highest
available is 640 x 240, with no 480 line res offered anywhere. I can
capture to VCD format but the quality is just not there considering I
want to archive my sizable 8mm collection.
Could this be because I need more memory than 256M?
If anyone out there uses the ATI TV Video Wonder VE I would appreciate
any help. Thanks. |
