Hi All
please excuse the long post, but i believe the more details will assist
someone to help me. I am at my wits end with this problem

THE PROBLEM: I cannot get any SCSI drives to show up on my system.I know the
drives are all working, because they were formatted on a WinXP system. I
flashed the SCI card ROM and loaded the drivers (at least i think)
correctly, according to manufacturer instructions

WHAT HAPPENS: System starts up fine and scsi rom message ("this device
should support 160 mb/s when driver is loaded") then underneath this another
message ("LSI Logic corp pci boot rom no support device found")

WHERE I LOOK FOR DRIVES: Control panel--> SCSI adapter --> shows the 2 IDE
controllers and drives. It also shows 2 entries for Symbios Ultra3 pci SCSI
icons, but when i expand them is shows "NO DEVICE" present. The Symbios SCSI
tool which i also installed shows 2 SCSI devicess:
ID #7 SYM_U3 Host adapter ID 0
ID #7 SYM_U3 Host adapter ID 1

but alas! no drives are showing. What am i missing, or what am i doing
wrong. Although the 70 Gig is the main one I am trying to get work, I have
tried several 9.1 Gig with no result.

Systems specs: Windows NT 4.0 service pack 6. 1 gig memory, 6gig IDE hard
drive and CD writer
SCSI controller: LSI LOGIC 19160 ULTRA 160 PCI SCSI CONTROLLER
SCSI DRIVES: A Seagate Ultra 320 70gig, and/or of a couple of 9.1 gig drives
i have available

Regards

Hi

wish that was the problem, because i learned about that in a previous post.
but i can add something to shed more light on the problem. Aparently there
was terminator device that was on the external port and as soon as i removed
it, the driver recognised the drive. So i waited for Windows to boot and
just about the time i was about to start jumping for joy, it BSOD. I have
written out some of the BSOD info below, with the hope that someone can
identify the problem and help me. I swear this computer is trying to kill
me!

your problem is about setting the hardware on the scsi-bus right .
reduce on this first . and go step by step .

hostadapter and terminator in the other end - what does it show ?

the add one drive - what does it ?

etc ...
