Interesting how nVidia chooses to enable PureVideo *eight* months after the
card has been announced. The company has been witholding this beneficial
feature from users all this time.

BTW looking on nvidia's site, the 6800 GT and Ultra are the only ones that
can do the real time automatic gamma adjustments.

I bought a 6800 GT a month ago. In reading articles about Pure Video |
yesterday, Pure Video is not enabled on the 6800 GT nor the Ultra, the
higher end cards. This doesn't make any sense! |

It is. It just can't do the windows media high definition video acceleration |
thing.

It's kinda funny, isn't it? With all the programmable pixel shaders today's
video cards support, a separate processor is needed to do something as
simple as real-time gamma adjustments.
Remember the VideoSoap feature on the All-in-Wonder 9700Pro? It actually
uses the R300's pixel shaders to clean up the noise when playing back
low-quality video files.
