Folkert Rienstra <see_reply-to@myweb.nl> kenjka:
Quote:
Raptors are kinda SCSI drives with SATA interface...

Nope, no such thing as a SCSI drive mechanism.

I said 'kinda'... They are SATA drives, but since WD obviously left SCSI,
and went into high-class SATA with Raptors, these drives are intended to
fight entry-level SCSI drives from other manufacturers... In that context,
they are 'kinda' SCSI... And, since they use 10krpm spindle motors, they
can easily compete with entry-level SCSI 10krpm drives...

Please, read between the lines in the future... You would die if you
wouldn't correct everybody, right?

As soon as you stop posting bullshit.

Hi,

With all due respect, could you please say more but ``nonsense''? If you
have an argument, i can live with that word, but if you don't have one,
it makes very little sense to reply to a post.

I partially agree. Raptors are in fact a kind of SCSI drives with an
SATA interface;

Nonsense, Raptors are a kind of ATA drive with an SATA interface. Of
course all SCSI drives are also a kind of ATA drive with a SCSI interface too.

Nope, he's right... Raptors are kinda SCSI drives with SATA interface...
Note that WD doesn't have SCSI drives anymore, and IIRC they used their SCSI
knowledge to produce Raptors as a drive that can compete with entry-level
SCSI drives from other manufacturers, but with lower price...

Nonsense, they used a 10k RPM drive mechanism.

Quote:

Bullshit. Raptors are enterprise drives. That does not make them "kinda" SCSI.

The command set is ATA-6, with absolutely no SATA2 features. That means
legacy command queuing, which nobody properly supports, and does not even
work in early drives.

Raptors use quality technology normally only found in SCSI drives.

In enterprise drives, as he said. What exactly did you not understand.

Quote:
The HDA itself is very similar to it's quality SCSI relatives;

only the bus is different (SATA in this case).

Which makes it IDE. If it were SAS, then it would make it SCSI.

Quote:
Do not confuse them.

Take your own advice.

I know, as i can tell from his name he is from Friesland, a province in
Holland that is widely known here for it's criticism on everything new
those people encounter... But that depends on individual personal
character ofcourse :P

Of niet, Folkert? Heb ik het verkeerd? Zit ik Friezen hier voor niets te

Beste Zeurkous,

Ik deel je afkeer van sommige personen (Ron, Rod, Folkert) in dit forum,
maar het beledigen van Friezen heeft geen pas.
Sommigen beziggen de zelfspot als geen ander kan!

Een tweede generatie niet-Fries.
