Whatever you find, it still remains that a 256MB framebuffer won't make
much of a difference in most games. I have seen none so far that
benefit that much. This is especially true in the price/value market
cards (late FX ranges to GF6 6600).
You might see a difference if the game took advantage of that much
texture memory (most have to explicitly allocate it), and your card was
fast enough to notice the difference.
I see two clear segments with 256MB cards, low end value and high end,
but not many in the middle.
Get a faster chip and memory first, at this point the framebuffer in
ancillary. |

Here's a Radeon 9250 with 256 MB of video RAM for 49 quid. Framerate will be
at a Geforce3's level, but you'll get your 256 MB...
