Hello. I'm having some trouble. TV-out works fine at 1024*768 @ 60Hz just as
it's supposed to. However, I've been using a refresh rate forcer (built
within Rage3D Tweak) which seems to have messed the whole thing up. I don't
want to remove the refresh rate forcer, because it's very important to me.

You see, as the tv takes a 1024*768 resolution, if I force a 1024 refresh
rate on the monitor, the settings for the TV are automatically changed. As
if the refresh rate forcer tries to shove 85Hz (or whatever) onto my tv too,
and as it obviously cannot take this, it flunks. When the problems are
large, the tv output will be 720*480, which sucks.

If I turn off the forced refresh rate for 1024, and restart, the tv-output
will be fine again. However, restarting isn't easy for me, due to my machine
being haggard, yes, that's right, my machine will not restart without some
assistance from my finger.

So, long winded as I may have been, I'd be very interested if someone could
tell me how to always FORCE the tv-out settings, because I know what it can
do, and that's it, I'd never want to use any other settings. This'd be great
through simple file alterations or a little freeware program.

Thanks for any help.

you don't say why you are using the third party tool
i assume you want to force a higher refresh rate, why ? the drivers do this
good enough anyway so you don't need to use it for that

overclocking ? so use rivatuner, or atitool, no big tool ????

The forcing of higher refresh rates is for use in games. I imagine you
already know, but many games force 60Hz no matter what resolution you use.
This hurts my eyes, and I notice the flicker easily. So, I force my refresh
rates to the highest possible by the monitor. This is done by individually
selecting a resolution, and selecting the appropriate refresh rate to force.
Am I mistaken? I don't believe this kind of option is available within the
ATI control panel.

forcing refresh rates was for win95, you don't need third party rubbish
these days (or you shouldn't do)

goto display properties, settings, advanced, in the ati tabs, displays,
configure your monitor, basicly means untick use DDC if you have to, and set
your max refresh rate, then you can set the refresh rate in the normal
windows monitor tab

This is true for refresh rates 'on the desktop'. I'm sorry, but for games,
this is incorrect.

It doesn't correct the matter of games forcing a 60Hz refresh rate. I invite
you to check this out for yourself, if you monitor is capable of displaying
information, then play any game that doesn't ask for you to configure a
refresh rate, and it'll be running at 60Hz.

DXDiag on the far right tab, one of the buttons allows you to force/override
the default (60Hz) refresh rate.
