I am hoping that some of the gurus in here can help me. I have looked
through the archives and have not found the solution to my problem (or have
just not seen it).

Here are my system specs:

Win XP (up to SP2)
PIII 1000
512 RAM
9600 Pro (128 MB)
160 GB total HD space

Here is the problem that I am having:

I recently purchased the Neverwinter Nights Platinum pack and installed it.
Within 10 minutes of playing the game, the display craps out on me and I
have to restart my computer. It is reproduceable.

I tried removing the drivers using the ATI cleaner and then going to the
latest Catalyst drivers, and the same problem occurs.

This problem occurs in a couple of other places as well. At seemingly
random times, the display will freeze and the video card will crash. It
seems to be about 75% Video Card crashing and about 25% crashing to reboot.

Help!!

Have you checked the temperature of the card right after one of these
crashes to see if it is getting too hot? Also, do you have some way to
monitor the voltages from your power supply to see if that is a problem
when you are in the game?

Yeah, and maybe the fan died.

Thanks for the replies, but it turned out to be easier than I thought. I
just turned the AGB to 2x from 4x and, once I remembered to do so on the
BIOS as well as the CATALYST controls, it worked just fine.

Thanks!!

Do a clean install of the Catalyst 4.8 drivers and then
go in to SmartGart and set fast writes to OFF, and
AGP to 4x. Reboot twice, and make sure each time
that the settings hold. Also, don't put the game settings
above 1024 x 768, and whatever "medium" settings
are ( say in Far Cry ). You should have no problems
after that. And I don't really trust the 4.1+ drivers yet.
