After installing my 6800 nvidia Im having weird problems -
intermittent refusal of two disks to power up or be recognized.

One is my Maxtor 120 gig which Ive had for maybe 8 months but the main
problem seems to be my Western Digital brand new 200 gig. Thats the
second WD Ive had problems with in the last few months - the other a
1.2-1.5 year old 80 gig on a neighbors system.

The Maxtor suddenly disappears and isnt recognized but thats only
happened 3 times so far. If I reboot everything seems fine.

My WD - sometimes when I start my system it clicks and then it cant
boot up WINXP Pro. Thats happened about 5 times but both have only
happened after I installed my 6800. If I reboot then all is well.

However Ive read articles that claimed even the 6800 GT doesnt consume
as much power as originally feared - I think they recommended a 480
watt system before but have drastically lowered that recommendation
down to even lower than 400 watts with a decent PS. And a Xbit labs
test shows a 6800 seems to consume fairly low power relative to the
6800 and even the 9800XT and even against the 6600.

I keep testing the Maxtor and WD with diag routines and they all come
up with no problems.
