PING 'Noel' |
|
|
After all the help you've given me, I thought it only right to make you
aware that your page;
http://webcam.kijk.info
is *STILL* crashing *both* my browsers. (IE 6 and NS7.1)
I don't know why, but I can't get past about 18% buffering before both
browsers just completely close on their own.
And by *close*, I mean ... They just shut down without me having taken any
action on my end.
In an earlier thread, somebody pointed out that I should give you page time
to load.
I'd like to make it perfectly clear that I'd be more than willing to do so,
given the opportunity. But that's just it. I *don't* ever get the
opportunity.
When I click on your link (http://webcam.kijk.info) I get as far as like
15-18% buffering ....
And then *BOTH* browsers just close by themselves, and disappear from my
screen.

Thom,
I'm talking to some MS people about this, and I think that I found the
error..
Could you pleas try again? I just (16 minutes after you posted this message)
made a small change in the Windows Media Server setup.

Still no good. (And yes I cleared my cache, cookies, and history in BOTH
before I tried again.)
I see the "splash" (Ammersfort) and then on the bottom of the cam window,
right after it starts to buffer, it says it's "optimizing stream"?
Then they both crash.
Maybe whatever you're using to "optimize" the stream is causing the trouble?

Hmmm..
I know what the crash looks like. I've got a laptop here that was doing the
exact same thing with IE and Netscape.
One thing is sure.. It's not the browser as when you connect to the stream
direct (mms://webcam.kijk.info/webcam) the Windows media player 10 does also
crash.
I'm using the Windows Media Server in combination with the Encoder. This was
always working fine till you had a look at it :-)
Will keep you posted about any fix, but for now I do not have a clue what
the error could be!
Thanks again for your test and input.

WMServer is the *only* thing you and I are doing differently as far as I can
tell. For testing purposes, why not just eliminate WMS, stream directly
from your PC, and see what happens? Process of elimination and all. :-)

Give it a go... It's now going direct to a "beta" cam.

Okay.. it's off again.. so the problem is the connection from the WMS to the
WME or something "extra" that the WMS is doing..
I'll keep testing..
Thanks again for now.

You bet. :-)
I'm in and out of this newsgroup, but I check my email on a regular basis.
If you need me for further testing? Either go to www.crampy.com/webcam.htm
and use the email link, OR ... send mail to, 'webmaster at crampy dot com'
(I'm sure you can "translate")
