I have been looking for quite a while for a lower end digital camera, but
having trouble finding one with a clear viewfinder (at least to me). Many
seem quite blurry. Or does it come with middle age:) I have sensitive eyes
and wear glasses.I like 1.8" LCD's but I need to be able to see clearly
throught the viewfinder as well.

Yesterday, I looked at an HP M307 which I've found so far has the best
viewfinder (for me). Its a zoom viewfinder. The young sales guy said it had
a clear viewfinder too and agreed that some viewfinders can be blurry. It
also has a 1.8" LCD. The other camera with a fairly good viewfinder for me,
though not as good as the M307, is the Canon A75 but its a lot more money,
so for now its out. I live in Canada and some cameras here are much the same
price as the US, but others are more money.

But I have a concern about the M307.It doesn't have a wheel for night,
landscape, etc. settings as most other cameras I've seen. Does that mean you
have to use the LCD for settings? What if your batteries run out- does that
mean you can't use the camera at all?
Is anyone here familiar with the HP M307 (or M407). I did searches and there
are a few reviews and most seem to say its ok. Its listed on dcpreview but
seems to be an announcement, not a review. Its only been out since Aug/04.
Both the M307 and M308 are a good price. The M307 is 3 MP and the 308 is
4MP. I don't want to spend more than $220.00 US.

Hi, I posted a message the other day, but got no replies. I will shorten my
message to focus on main points I was asking..

I looked at the HP M307 digital camera the other day and I liked it. I did
some searches and found a few reviews, and most seem to say its ok. Its
listed on dpreview but seems to be an announcement, not a review. I don't
see it on Steves digicams. It was the M307 (3 MP) I saw, But there is also
an HP M407 (4MP). The M307 is more in my price range, but M407 might be
considered. I don't want to spend more than $220.00 US. I'm in Canada.

Perhaps this is a stupid questiion, but I notice when I looked at the M307,
it doesn't have a wheel for settings such as night, landscape, etc. as all
other cameras I've looked at. The settings seem to be done from the LCD
menu. Does that mean you can't use the camera without the LCD being on ?
Thank you for any feedback.

Mary
