My HP 6200c seems to have breathed it's last - won't complete the scan, just
makes that little "zip" noise, but the want never moves.

I've already got a film scanner (CoolScan 4000).

Don't need auto document feed.

Got plenty USB2 ports, also have a SCSI port.

Speed is high on the "Want" list.

Immediate use: scanning printed photos for a high school reunion web site.

Recommendations?

Too late.... just went down to CompUsa, found a Epson 2450 for "manager's
special" price of $99.98.

Geeze, this thing is *fast* compared to my HP - like about 5x ...and the HP was
SCSI...

Do you perhaps mean 2480? The 2450 is a great machine for $99 but it hasn't
been a current Epson model for about 2.5 to 3 years! Maybe it just got lost
back in the storage room?!

Tsk, tsk Pete. You should always check the Epson clearance center before
going to CompUSA.

See the 3170 for a better scanner IMHO.

If you could return the 2450 to comp and buy the 3170, that is what I'd do.

Mahalo (no sp now that I know this is correct)

If it is a brand new 2450 with a full warranty, that is a nice deal. The
2450 has a nicer light source and allows for scanning of larger pieces of
film.
