I've posted a discussion of the "streaking" problem with
the Minolta 5400 and Vuescan software on my web site.
It is under the tips section along witht the rest of
the scanner topics.
Basically it appears that the latest version of Vuescan,
8.1.12, does not suffer from this problem.
