I have noticed that cartridge protective plastic bag (in the cardboard
shipping box) is perforated.

I also noticed that upper cartridge plenum is ventilated (through some
labyrinth passages) to atmosphere.

My question is - why ink in the cartridge is not drying out?

Where I can find more information about design of this small marvel?

Kind regards

Tadeusz

While you are at it, find out why refill instructions sometimes say
to leave the label off after refilling.

This is to keep the printhead from being subjected to elevated humidity which
could damage the printhead.

As ink is printed from the cartridge it is necessary to allow air to enter the
cartridge. The labyrinth gives a very long narrow path which provides a
minimal vapor loss.

I think it's because they don't want to get the blame for the non-flow that
will eventually result from a misaligned label. Better to put it back on in
my opinion, but precisely so that all the ventilation channels are showing
as intended .
