My IBM X40 has the "usual" AC adapter. On reading the details on the
label it says input from 100-240 Volts.

Does this really mean that when I am in Europe (220 V) if I merely use
the proper connecting plug, that I don't need a voltage converter?

In the past I have always used a heavy duty converter, and it is
extremely heavy so for obvious reasons I would happily leave it behind.

Has anyone used simply the AC adapter with connecting plug?
Thanks,
Mahl

Yes.
The label also says "50/60Hz" which makes it truly universal.
Get a dollar or two plug adapter (those are different for the UK and different for
the rest of Europe) and simply plug it.

Yes, laptop switching converters are almost always universal voltage.

Leave it behind.

People do that all the time. They are made for that.

Correct!

Yes, I do it all the time, from the UK to JP and everywhere in between.
