Quick question re:Pavilion |

Hi.. Using an HP Pavilion N5445 w/ XP Home.
It has been running slow, mostly because of a maxed out hard drive (20 gig -
2 gig free).
Big improvement upgrading memory from 256 meg to 640.
Does it make sense to replace the remaining 128 with another 512, maxing
memory out to 1024? I use it mainly for Excel, Word, Email, graphic files
(mostly jpegs, some Photoshop, etc...)
Also, does anyone know if there is an actual SpeedStep program for the
N5445? I have been unable to find it but I do know XP has a
pseudo-SpeedStep built in.
IN the meantime, I have set Windows to run at 'best performance' as opposed
to 'Let Windows decide'...

No. Put in a larger hard drive or remove a bunch of unnecessary stuff
to clear space. |

Thanks Chris.... that's what I thought...
Most of the junk is removed, 8.4 gig alone is 'My Documents', which are all
my files, backed up from my desktop.
Replacing the HD makes sense, and I've done it many times before on a PC,
but never a laptop.
Going from a 20G to a 40G would be more than plenty but it appears to be a
little trick and more expensive than a regular PC...
Advice on this would probably make me tremble a little less.. particularly
when it comes to data transfer.... thank you!
