Sony laptop shuts off

My sony laptop shuts off for no apparent reason. the monitor goes blank but
the computer seems to still be running, I have to turn it off the on again
to restart it then it will stay on for little while then shut off agin!
anyone have a clue why? I already checked the power options

Overheating, bad HD, bad RAM. For overheating, get a can of "dust
cleaner" at a computer store and with the unit unpowered, blow into the
exhaust and out the fan. Restrain the fan with a paper clip to prevent
its overspeeding. Check RAM (remove and re-insert). If you can get the
unit to run, get the HD health utility from the HD vendor and test the
drive. Get memtest86.exe and run a RAM diagnostic.

Power management has gone haywired. Reset to factory then
reconfigure.
