Is there a line-in on this laptop for connecting tv cards etc, it has a
mic input but cant see a line-in option.

Dell sells a tv in card. It connects to the usb port. It even has its own
remote!!

You can of course use a pcmcia type card. Otherwise there is no line in
jack, just a microphone and headphone one.
