Spilt Beer on keyboard, keys don't work lifebook n3010 |
|
|
I know this has been brought up several times on this forum, but I am
one more person who has managed to spill beer on his keyboard. I am in
an appearrantly unique situation though, that my keyboard halfworks.
THe computer works fine, but only about a third of the keys simply do
not work. Is there a cleaning process that will fix this? How hard is
it to replace the keyboard myself on this model? Are the keys
removable on this model? If I do give up and decided to send it in,
does anyone know any good service options for Lifebooks? Is fujitsu
repair any good?
Any help would be appreciated,
thanks,
Jeff |

See if you can borrow an external keyboard to see if that works. If it
doesn't, your beer may also have reached the keyboard controller, in which
case it will be a more difficult repair. If it works, then it is just the
keyboard.
As far as getting it replaced, my suggestion would be to call Fujitsu. They
may not take it for direct repair if it's older, but if not, they may be
able to recommend someone. |

Your chances of repairing this are extrmely slim. keytops come off, but
not the part that you really need to get to. Remove the keyboard, clean
it under running water, let it dry for a very long time (like a week or
more) and try it. It will probably be worse, not better, but it's your
only chance. If the keyboard is held together with screws, you may well
be able to take it apart and clean it, but they are usually "welded
plastic" and can't be taken apart. In the end, it's more than 90%
likely that you will have to replace the keyboard.
