TV Out Works Different on 3 Different TV's - Great to Bad? |
|

I have an Averatec C3500 Laptop with SIS M741 video. It has S-Video out built in. Here is the strange thing, on one TV the output is fantastic, on another it is terrible...
SVideo Out -> Toshiba 55" : Quality: PERFECT
Composite Out -> Toshiba 55" : Quality: Very Good
Composite Out to SamSung 27" : Quality : Useless/unreadable
Composite Out to Sharp 27" : Quality : Very Bad/Extremely Dark
So it works great with my bigscreen but it's not usable at all with the other two TV's. All 3 TV's work great with composite out from a DVD player.
The real issue is that I am buuilding a MAME machine and planning to purchase a new PC, Video Card (with s-video out) and a New 27" TV to use as a display. This makes me worry if the TV / Video Card combo I purchase will work well together or not.
Is this a common problem? Are there only "certain TV's" that work well with computers running TV-Out?
I would have thought if all three work with a DVD's composite out they should also work the same with a computer composite out. If anything I would have expected the smaller TV's to look better than the bigscreen, not the reverse.
Any insight would be helpful! Thanks! |
