Making a 6600 LE work like a GT |
|
|
I have a 6600 LE on some computer and I heard on some irc channel that
you could do something to make it run just like a 6600 GT, does anyone
know what it takes to get to that? |

Not gonna happen. You can overclock your card to maybe generic 6600
levels, but the reason yours is an LE is because it's been speed-binned
(graded) by its core for an LE. Most 6600 chips are very similar, but
some come out of the batch better than others and the best ones get
graded for 6600GT's. You also have the issue of no DDR3. This is a key
component to a 6600GT. It gives it memory bandwidth nearly equivalent
to a 6800/GT. |

oh, alright, I just heard of someone telling me there was a utility to
"unleash" its power |

What deimos is trying to get across is that you cannot increase the
performance of your 6600LE card to the performance of a 6600GT, purely
because you do not have the hardware. AFAIK The 6600LE does not have the
requisite technology to perform at the same levels as a 6600GT.
With RivaTuner or a similar overclocking utility, you may be able to
increase the performance of your card.
But the increase will not be gigantic (ie., it will not be equivalent to the
increase between using a 6600LE and then an actual 6600GT).
HTH. |

yeah, but ain't there things to unlock, besides overclocking, just like
you can unlock pipes on a 6200 to get close to the 6600? |
