Looking for a high speed laptop |
|
|
Using a Toshiba Laptop now, I want to get a new one.
There are only few things important to me: High CPU speed, Big HD, safety
and reliabiltiy.
Important is a screen resolution of 1400 by 1050 or more but not less.
WLan would be nice, Bluetooth and IR are unimportant.
What equipment could be recommendable?
Thanks |

Weight? Price? Dedicated graphics memory? Etc.

Price should be lower than 2000, graphics device not low-cost, but nothing
special needed. Weight is not really important; I suppose a high performance
equipment always has between 3000 and 3500 grams. Other features should be
good standard quality and not low-cost. Most important is a powerful CPU
that can provide server functionalies to the network. I think, 1000MBit
Ethernet should also be standard. 100MBit would be too slow. |

If you are not worried about the price then you can try any of these.
A Toshiba Qosmio with a 200 gig hard drive, 2.26 Ghz pentium M780 chip
and 1 Gig RaM upgradable to two gig with 128-256 graphics card.
Sony has its own...the same pentium M 780 chip, and a gig or RAM
upgradable to 2 Gig and 256 dedicated graphics card but only 100 Gig
hard drive..
I cannot remember the screen resolution of those units but they are
equally impressive.and had also lots of other features. |

$2000 US? (The weight, in grams, makes me wonder.)

Various major manufacturers have nice machines at the top of their
range---Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, HP/Compaq, the IBM Thinkpad range, Acer,
etc. etc. etc.---look through them and see what catches your eye.
There are also smaller makers such as RockDirect, M-Tech Laptops,
SavRow, and others, who do high-performance machines.
Check them all out and make a decision, but be aware of what you're
getting---some of the serious desktop replacement systems weigh a ton! |
