Is there anyway to batch configure about 30 units of laptop to join
domain?

Yes, there are multiple ways to do it, but all of them are complex. You
could have them boot from a network and do an auto-install, or you could
use an auto configuration floppy disk with a standard CD (probably the
easiest way) or you could use the Windows OPK (OEM Preinstallation kit)
to prepare a bootable CD or DVD that would install everything just the
way you want it (not only Windows, but Office, Acrobat, and any other
applications, all in one fell swoop). You could also clone the drives
from an image made PRIOR to the final step of the installation.

Any good Windows XP MCE certification textbook will discuss these
(except for the OPK, which usually isn't discussed). There are a lot of
deployment techniques available when you have to mass-deploy or
mass-configure a bunch of machines. However, they are the stuff of
corporate MCE network administrators, and for the most part they are not
simple.
