Remanufactured drums |

|
I have a Brother HL-5140 for about 2.5 years now and the second drum has
developed a spot. I have followed instructions to try to clean it -
it's a little better but not good enough. I am a very low volume user. I
may be crazy for not junking the printer at this point, but I was
wondering what you all think about remanufactured drums from one of the
online ink/toner outfits. Thanks for any help.

You should not have any problem with compatible drum units from any reputable
supplier. The drum unit is easy to remanufacture, so provided the supplier
purchases a quality drum the result should be as good as an original Brother
unit except it will be cheaper of course.

You should not have any problem with compatible drum units from any
reputable
supplier.
THATS THE TRICK. IT IS DIFFICULT TO TELL WHO THE REPUTABLE SUPPLIERS |
ARE AND WHO DID THE REMAN. IF IT WAS THE FACTORY WHO MADE THE PRINTER
THEN YOU GOTTA CHANCE.

Now Measekite has suddenly become an expert in Laser printers as well as
inkjets! As I have previously remarked, Measekite deliberately lies to try to
make some sort of inane point and in the process can do damage.
The fact is that there are far more solid statistics concerning the
remanufacture of Laser drum units and Toner carts than there are for inkjets.
The Laser remanufacturing industry is simply massive, failure rate for
remanufactured consumables and OEM consumables is well below 5%. There is a
good reason for this, it is less complex to do this work than it is to refill
ink cartridges because the technology is far less complex and there is a
plethora of excellent suppliers of components, one of the largest in the world
is Static Control Corporation, an American multi billion dollar company who
have been in business for decades manufacturing static related and laser
components and toner. You can absolutely trust this very professional company
as you can trust several others. SCC have resellers world wide and a very large
proportiion of remanufacturers use their products and they are a superb Brand
by any definition (no I don't have shares in the company, but I do buy their
products). It should be easy to find a reputable and professional supplier of
compatible drum units in your locality, or order one from one of the large
suppliers. I seriously doubt you will have any trouble.

You really do know nothing, there are almost no remanufactured or refurbished
laser drums (at best they would constitute about 2-3% of the industry).
The vast majority of compatible drums are manufactured completely from scratch,
so they are brand new and made to high standards with full warranty.
Some of them are superior to some OEM drums because they are long life and will
print more pages than the originals.
