So you're going to replace them in a few months when something better is out

then? :)

That's a whole other debate, we live in a consumer driven society.

You should sell your computer, sell your body to science, take the
money you're wasting on an internet connection and give it all to
charity. Then off yourself somewhere where the scientific body that you
sold your remains to can collect them. Thereby feeding hungry children,
advancing science, and raising the gene pool average of the human race
several points.

Every wondered why people cringe when dropping $500 on a video card, yet
don't even blink when spending $1200 on a digital camera?

Some people spend $1500 *every morning* to get their private jets de-iced.
De-icing fluid costs $30 a gallon, and gets sprayed on with firetruck
ferocity. It certainly puts things in perspective.

According to the Inq, the 7800 GTX512 will not only double the memory size,
but increase clock speeds as well. So the question should really be: "When
will Samsung be able to deliver 1.8 GHz RAM modules in sufficient quantity?"

Incidentally, there's only one game (and a poorly executed one at that) that
can take real advantage of 512 MB of video RAM - Call of Duty 2, a
dumbed-down console port.

It's unfortunate that Call of Duty 2 is lackluster, while its predecessor
ranks among the top games ever made for the PC.

CoD1? really ?

On rails with scripted AI. Die, load last save point, enemy pop up in
same places, bang-bang... wash, rinse............

Maybe the MP was the saving grace ?

Yes, that's how companies make money from us geeks.

No geek.... More likely an average Joe-Blow with far more money than
sense and a terminal case of the "my dog is better than your dog"
disease. No doubt spends many hours late at night benchmarking and
uploading results to his favorite forums ? Got your nitrogen-cooler
yet ? Most true 'geeks' share quite a bit of <common-sense> together
with sharp technical knowledge in their chosen field. However, keep at
it --- your 'early-adopter' contribution helps pay off development
costs and quickens the price-slide for the rest of us.

Anyway, the 8800GTX512 will be out in a very few months time. Like to
sell me your two 7800GTX512 at that time for say, $250 each ???
Keep chasing the rainbow and please put me permanently on your list
for your electronic cast-offs :-) :-)
