Hi,

I upgraded my system yesterday with an extra 512MB memory, a new HDD in a
removable cradle, power unit and cpu cooling fan.

Since the upgrade my system has crashed numerous times and I'd really like
some advice on what the following error messages mean or point to.

Error message 1
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Technical information
*** STOP: 0X00000050 (0XB5B86EFC, 0X00000000, 0XF5B935FO, 0X00000000)
*** SYMEVENT.SYS - Address F5B935F0 base at F5B85000, Datestamp 4272844C

Error message 2
FRONTPG.EXE Application Error
The instruction at "0X78901ED" referrenced memory at "0X789010ED".
The memory could not be "read".

Error message 3
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Technical information
*** STOP: 0X00000050 (0XC405CA88, 0X00000001, 0XF753A53A, 0X00000000)
*** NTFS.SYS - Address F753A53A base at F7515000, Datestamp 41107EEA

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Best regards,

When you add memory to a system, the first thing you boot, is
a memtest86+ boot floppy. The tool to make the test floppy
can be downloaded here:

http://www.memtest86.com/

If you don't have a floppy drive, there is also an ISO image,
suitable for burning a bootable CD.

You should run memtest86+ for at least a couple complete passes.
If any errors are shown at all, you should attempt to stabilise
the memory, by entering the BIOS and adjusting memory settings.

Chances are, you have a motherboard with a single channel memory
controller, and the more sticks of memory you add, the more
unstable it gets. Sometimes, the memory clock speed must be
reduced, to get stable operation. If there is a Vdimm adjustment
in the BIOS, adding a little extra voltage can stop the errors.
Adjusting the other memory timings, by increasing the values
by +1, and retesting with memtest86+, is another option.

If the memory errors shown are at the same address each time
there is a failure, then the new memory stick itself could
be defective. Before sending it back, the memory stick should
be tested by itself, to see whether the stick itself is
defective, or the problem continues to be the combination
of whatever sticks you've got in the machine.

<snip>

probably a memory problem...
you can confirm that by running your ssytem with only your
original memory
