Hi.

I am looking for a new vid card, now wanting to spend more than AUD$175.00.
My prime target a few moths ago was a Radeon 9800 Pro however it has been
suggested to me that I would be better off with an X700 or an Nvidia 6200GF.

I've never had an Nvidia card, and I can't find any reviews for the 6200GF.
Anyone here got any thoughts on it, or one similarly priced?

I currently run a 2600XP AMD, 512Mb DDR400, MSI mobo, 400wPSU and use an
8500Pro.

Not sure how much prices are on VGA cards down there, but for
that price you can get something like a 6600GT here in the US. If the
6200 is the best you can get for that price, make sure you get a 6200
with 128-bit memory bus.
Nvidia reconfigured the AGP 6200s with a native AGP chip that
didn't require the HSI bridge chip. This made it alot cheaper, but
also weakened it into a 64-bit POS.
I didn't know ATI had made AGP versions of the X700. I can't
find many reviews of it, but here's one that shows it coming in behind
the 6600GT. Looks to be as good as a standard 6600.

If you can't afford an Nvidia 6600GT, I'd get the ATI X700
AGP, or a standard 6600 (make sure it has 128-bit memory bus) before
I'd mess with a 6200.
