Gfx card |
|
|
Hello,
Ive had my graphics card (PYN Geforce 6600 GT APG) for a number of
months now but ive finally decided to do something about it. Im not
quite sure whats up with it exactly so ive recorded a little video of
what happens...
http://www.madseagul.com/New%20track%205.wmv
This only happens when im playing 3d games... yet cs:sourse will work
in 800x600 res in lowest possible graphics settings. After what you can
see on screen the computer completly crashes and have to reboot the
system manually.
Firstly, ive checked my power supply and changed it, still the same
problems occur. Then after that formatted whole computer and still the
problem occurs with the new drivers. Tried loads tbh... taking out
sound card, turning off on board sound, both.. checking ram.
so finally cant be bothered with the blunder from it and asking for
help :)
Thanks in advance |

Heat... the card is getting too hot. To verify, leave your PC case open
and play the same games and see if it has stopped.
If it does stop, then leave your case open or add additional ventilation
to your case. The fan on your card may also be going bad... |

| Running with the case open doesn't necessarily mean better cooling. |

Your card is "artifacting" (like a biotch too!). This is usually caused
by one of three things:
1) Overheating/overclocking
2) Improper chipset drivers
3) Defective part
The card may also be faulty and overheating because of it as well, but
usually it's just plain overheating because of a very cramped case or
poor ventilation. Overclockers often run into this when they go too far
and you have to step back your clocks.
There are known system incompatibilities as well and these are generally
cured by new drivers or installing the right motherboard chipset drivers
for your system. For example, the VIA Hyperion drivers for VIA
KT600/800 boards. You have to make sure you install these before your
graphics drivers on a clean install. You might also have
incompatibilities with features like FastWrites. Turn this option off
in your BIOS.
Lastly, it's very possible you've got a bum card. RMA'ing it is
probably a good idea. Sometimes it's the chip with actual circuitry
defects, other times it might be poor RAM. |

Yes it does.

Not allways, a lot of it is dependant on case design...
