81.85: Mouse losing it's pointer! |
|
|
no kidding, every now and then, the mouse pointer "freezes", but the
mouse is still working (!) - it just doesn't drag the pointer around
any more ... you can see it still works, since the hover-over option
is still active, one can still click anywhere (provided one actually
finds the correct spot with a frozen pointer ...)
any way to modify the settings so this doesn't occur any more?
have deactivated "write combing", seems better now, but still
happening ...
tia, Cole :)

81.85 is a DUD. Go back to the last drivers.
Not having that problem. But others.

Drop your graphic acceleration under Troubleshooting down one notch.
This does away with cursor and bitmap acceleration. There are a few
systems out there that don't seem to like accelerated cursors much.
Mine is one of them -- the cursor is much slower and jerky with full
acceleration than with lowered. You can especially notice it with high
refresh rates. |

Are you using the "3D" shaded pointer, or the default white one? Whatever
you are using, try the other.
There is also an option in BIOS related to write-combining, usually
selectable between "UC" and "USWC". You can try changing it to "UC", too.
