Amd and Intel comparation |

What's the conversion formulas between a ghz speed of an Intel
processor and an AMD processor?
I know for example that a 2.5Ghz Intel is not equivalen to a 2.5Ghz Amd
processor, so what should i do to compare these processors?

AMD has already done it for you, only they underestimate themselves a |
bit. An AMD Athlon 64 3500+ is a little faster than an Intel Pentium 4
at 3500Mhz.

They use different architectures and thus you cannot simply
apply some kind of MHz equation, because it will not remain
constant but vary per application. So, you need to consider
your most demanding, and/or more common applications and
seek benchmarks of those (including similar if not same
version of the application- an important detail often
overlooked) to get a relative comparsion to derive some kind
of rough MHz:MHz comparison- which of course is only
applicable to that application or others randomly having
same benefit or detriment per each CPU design or
optimizations or (whatever other reason). |

It's not really easy to say as there are many more variables involved
than simple clock speeds. Check out tomshardware.com for some
in-depth comparisons of various CPU's under different types of
application loads. |
