I just replaced my old 8500LE with an x800XL, and I'm running into some
differences in the monitor & TV setup.
I used to have a hotkey to switch between the two (so I could watch
programs without sitting at the desk). The new card doesn't have a
feature for this that I can find -- there used to be a tab in the control
panel's display settings that had a lot of useful stuff, including the
hotkey setup, but now I just have this "Catalyst Control Center" that
seems pretty shallow in terms of options.
I can switch over to the TV by unplugging the monitor, plugging the TV
cable back in, and rebooting, but that's a nuisance. I don't need to have
them both on at the same time, but that would be OK.
Do I need Hydravision? And if so, which version? The one on ATI's web
site (3-21-2108), which you'd think would be the latest version, doesn't
list my new card as supported. But the one that came with my card doesn't
seem to have a version number, just "Basic" and "Advanced".
