I've got a Toshiba a75-s209. It's a 3.06 mhz pentium but is saddled with the ATI "mobility radeon"
integrated graphics board. The net result is 3d processing is pathetically slow. I wanted the a75 for
its ultrabrite (xbrite style) widescreen.

I noticed Toshiba doesn't seem to have many (or any) computers with substantial graphics cards
that aren't integrated.

What kind of laptop is similar to my toshiba (with its glossy, ultra-bright xbrite style widescreen) but
has a powerful graphics board and can run the latest 3d applications/gaming?

Dell Inspiron 9300.

You should be able to configure a Toshiba with just about anything you want.
Some laptops will be non-configuarable such as the low end offerings from
just about any major manufacturer.
