Hey Guys,

How do you release the cpu from this type of socket
http://members.cox.net/hpoindexter/.

Thanks,
Mike

You slide the black locking lever (on the left in the photo, apparently
"down" in the photo is unlocked)

Look closer. The white "slide" is labeled RHS="open" LHS="closed"
The black "roll" could be a safety slide?

Thanks for the reply.

Yea. In the photo I already have the black lever in the unlocking position.
That is where I am stuck. Nothing moves. I have been prying on it with a
screw driver and afraid I might break something.

It is a ZERO-insertion force socket, do not force anything, you will
break something (and "something" could be the motherboard as well as the
CPU).

What does the black locking thing stop from moving, and in which
direction, following the arrows, do you have freedom of movement?

If you cannot see that, pay somebody with some clue to show you. :o)

Grant.

Right now the black lever is open, what you have to do now is get a

flat screw driver, insert it on the other side of the cpu socket and
gently push the screwdriver to the left.
