For the last year or so I've been using an old IBM Thinkpad T-20 laptop
as a monitor for a WAveRider Jr. biofeedback machine which was
connected to COM port 1. One day I went to use the biofeedback machine
and the laptop gave me a message about an error opening COM1 because it
was either in use or not available. Thinking there was a problem with
the feedback machine's program, I changed ports and I even ran a
different program but I keep getting the same results no matter what
COM port I use or program I run.

I'm running Windows NT 4.0 workstation on the laptop. Could there be a
problem with that or is there a glitch with the Thinkpad? Any help on
this would be appreciated.
