Without question, your 5700 will last for about 0.2 seconds if you take off
the fan. Even with its temperature sensor I doubt it would protect the card
from certain death. GPU's do get extremely hot. I wouldnt trust passive
cooling either. Anyhow, you gan buy a decent cooling fan for that type of
card methinks. Vantec Iceberq VGA cooler, does the job.
