Hi,

I need to use two analogue monitors simultaneously.

Until now, I have used a cheapish (64mb) AGP card with two VGA ports.

My new computer has a Radeon X300 SE pci express card it's an OEM version,
with one VGA port and no dvi port)

The cheapest twin VGA pci express card I can find is over £140, which is too
expensive for me.

The dealers (who assured me that the card in the new computer was AGP) have
suggested using a splitter cable - I x VGA to 2 x VGA.

Would this work?

I can (I suppose) return the computer to them for a refund - but it's likely
that any other new machine will be using pci express, so I'll still have the
same problem.

The splitter option, if it works, would be a cheap and ideal solution for
me. My use is design and web page creation, so high end gaming performance
is unimportant to me.

TIA for your advice

Ed.

What about a PCI dual monitor card? You don't mention anything about your
system and you can still buy PCs with AGP. You can have one custom made just
the way you want it most anywhere. Take it back and tell them do give you a
price on a system that you want.
