Hi

I own an HP LaserJet 1100 printer which developed the annoying problem of
constantly feeding several pages at a time and then jamming. Searching on
Google I came across several messages concerning this very problem.
Apparently it is a known and common problem with the 1100 and a class
lawsuit was settled in Canada with HP in which HP provided free replacement
separator pads. Unfortunately that is not the case in the US where I live.

On the newslists, I discovered the part I needed was the RF5-2886-000CN
(Separation pad - Separation pad and holder arm). Since they only cost $4 I
ordered them and just received them. BUT, they came with no instructions at
all. A newslist message said instructions for installing them were on line
at http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printers/support_doc/bpl10122.html but that
webpage no longer exists.

Are there instructions anywhere as to how I could replace the separator pads
on the HP LaserJet 1100?

While refilling ink cartridges yourself is the cheapest, it is not
necessarily the best way to go. Refilling can be messy. If your print
cartridge has a chip in it, the refill may work the first time, but may
refuse to work as the cartridge is reused and ages. Using

This has nothing to do with ink cartridges. I am talking about the
separator pads that dry up after a few months on the HP Laserjet 1100 and
then cause the paper handling to go bad.

As for inks, with the ridiculous price of manufacturer ink cartridges, it
can sometimes almost be cheaper to buy a new printer than buy the inks! I
bet they will give you the printer for free so you can buy their cartridges,
but that is a separate unrelated subject.
