With my 1640SU, I have not the transparent adaptator option.
I have a special light source for negative photo and
I want to disabled the internal light during scanning.

Is it possible by the driver or by hardware ?
Thanks for any ideas ?

You have to have the 1640U Photo model to have the transparent adapter to
scan negatives and slides.
