Why won't complete idiot's new laptop battery charge? |
|
|
I've plugged the laptop into the AC with the laptop powered off and
left it overnight, but the battery doesn't get above 5%. I've checked,
and it's stuck in there okay, nothing covering the connectors or
anything. What's going on? |

Does the battery power the laptop at all? If it does, have you run the
battery to the power warning limits and then tried a recharge? Can you try
the battery in another laptop to see if it will charge there? Is this the
OEM battery or a replacement? What did tech support have to say?

Probably a bad battery, I had the same experience earlier this year.

Hi, Kev and others
It barely powers it at all; I unplug and the alarm starts immediately
and the computer turns off within a minute. I am going to take it to a
retailer today (I bought it online but the retailer also has
brick-and-mortar outlets) to see if it will charge there. It isn't
OEM, although I did go way cheap on this laptop and everything is
plain-wrap.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try it in the store and if it
doesn't charge I'll get a replacement. |
