Thinkpad R31 Motherboard Troubleshooting |
|
|
My R31 Thinkpad is failing to power up. If I simply squeeze the
front left corner of the laptop, hit the power button, it starts up
normally. But when I release squeezing, the computer turns itself
off.
I'm trying to get into this computer in hopes of finding something
fixable. However, try as I might, I can't seem to figure out how to
separate the case parts. All screws now removed, CD removed,
keyboard removed, battery removed. What more?
Would appreciate suggestions on how to open up this laptop and have a
close look at the motherboard.

Go to the IBM support site at
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TPAD-MATRIX
and download the Hardware Service manual for your laptop. It will give
instructions to disassemble the laptop.

Thank you, got it! I had visited that page, but must have had finger
trouble, as I failed to find it previously. Within minutes, found
what I needed to do to get into it. Now for troubleshooting.....
