Performance of SCSI disk |
|

as i know, there is difference in performance between inner area and outer
area of the disc.
can i put the core programs in the inner area by partition?
is it possible to do it?
Thanks.

It is possible to influence performance with partitions. The outer area of
the disk will get you higher data throughput than the inner area. Outer
area -> Larger circle -> More sectors per track -> More data per revolution.
Also, More data per track -> less cylinders per MB -> Fewer seeks to reach
the same amount of data. You want data that is frequently accessed and
requires the most bandwidth on the outer cylinders.

In general, yes. Some OSes (Linux, Solaris) allow you specify the start and |
end of each partition.Windows will start right at the beginning. |
