Can't get GuidePlus+ to connect and updating. On ATI help site they
suggectedenabling 1.1 proxy it was and still no luck. Have a friend who is
having the same problem. The last time I was able to update was 10-2-05

The best solution is to un-install and re-install Gemstar from your cd
This happens to me from time to time (a little too often really) but a
re-install will always fix it "unless" there is a problem at the server
end.... then you may have to wait a day or so and then do the re-install
again. Wish there was a better answer.

Have you tried deleting the \common files\borland database?
that can solve some problems - make sure that it is getting deleted before
you install the new copy.
