Upgrade to GeForce6800 |
|
|
Thanks to Conor, Glitch and others who took the time to assist me in card
selection.
I chose the XFX 6800AGP 128 mb to breathe a little video life into my 3.5
year old Hypersonic PC until next year. I used the driver cleaner which was
very easy to run and was up and running in a couple of hours.
I was concerned about my 350w power supply, but the hub got the 3, 5 & 12v
readings upon system bootup and there were no drop-offs on any of the
boot-ups so I think I am safe in the power supply dept.
The card runs flawlessly and I am very pleased with my purchase. I must say
however that the manual is lacking which I think is not unusual.
Again, thanks to all who took the time to read my post and to help!

at least your manual was in English I hope. My Leadtek A400 card came all
in asian and foreign text, not a word of english. I had a good idea of what
I was doing but am still miffed that I had to download the manual to double
check any problems.

My manual was in English--about 6 pages worth, but nothing about proper prep
or any such thing.
The other thing that disappointed me was the lack of freebies, you know. My
GeForce Ti4600 came with at least three full copies of games. Bah! ;-)
Anyhow, the card is working and I'm happy.
