I am currently using a eVGA FX5900XT, 128 MHz Ram video card. My Son is
giving me a Chaintech G4 5700LE 256 Meg Ram. Will the Chaintech be a step up
or down? I have tried to find reviews on-line with no success.
I know you should never look a gift-horse in the mouth, or lift it's tail,
but I'm curious about the two cards. He's coming up next week and I need to
know in advance about what to do.

Thanks

Yes, that'll be a noticeable step down. Quite noticeable.

Your son is pulling a fast one on you. Better write him out of the will,
fast.

You'd be going from a 5900XT (390Mhz/700Mhz core/mem) to a
5700LE (250Mhz/400Mhz). You'd be taking a big step back.

Yours is currently 400 and 250Mhz, 4 pipes with 2

TMU per pipe.

Sorry, that should read "Yours is currently 400Mhz and 350Mhz, 4 pipes with
2 TMU per pipe"

Big step down. Very slow core and even slower memory. 250Mhz and 200Mhz. 4
pipes with 1 TMU per pipe. Yours is currently 400 and 250Mhz, 4 pipes with 2
TMU per pipe.

Well it will have more ram. But as far as I know the LE is a less powerful
card than the XT series...

LE equals tightfisted. It is WAY slower.
