I have a new 4250 and I set it up to insert a blank sheet of paper
from Tray 1 as a cover sheet. However, when I try to do so,
*everything* prints from Tray 1.

Any ideas why?

The LJ 4250 default setting is to pull paper from Tray 1 when there is
paper in it. If you want to print a Blank page from Tray 1 at the
begining of the print job, you will have to set the Tray 1 to certain
type of paper (eg, Letter Head), set Tray 2 to Plain. Then you will have
to set the print job from the computer probably using PCL or some kind
of Macro to do paper selection.
