Tracking sale of nVidia Quadro4 900xgl |
|
|
I have a PC at work that was upgraded to an
nVidia Quadro4 900xgl by a grad student here
at the university. We can find no purchasing
information on the card ( for warranty repair ),
and I expect it was purchased under a research
grant which was funding the student. Is there
any way to trace down the sales history of this
card?

Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer of the card, in hope that the
original purchaser (the grad student?) had registered the card. Is there
anything on the card that indicates the actual manufacturer? It is probably
PNY in North America and LeadTek elsewhere in the world. If there are no
labels, Google the part number or serial number.
If no registration info exists, the manufacturer will probably go by the
original production date based on BIOS version or board revision.

It's PNY also in the rest of the world. PNY is the only manufacturer of
Quadro-based gfx cards (all other cards are just PNY OEM cards)...

The PNY Quadro4 900XGL had (like all PNY gfx cards) 3 years warranty
from the date of purchase. However, the 900XGL is usually too old to
still fall under warranty.

Hmm, didn't know that, especially since LeadTek is also a large manufacturer
of video cards. (In addition, it's affiliated with Foxconn, which is
massive.)
Still, warranty service is normally handled by the IHV. So if another
company rebadges a PNY OEM card, PNY is not responsible for warranty claims.

Yes, gamer cards. Nothing for the professional market...

Of course. It should be clear that PNY won't support cards which have no
PNY label...
