SCSI Harddrive not recognized in SCSI BIOS |
|
|
I am using Windows XP SP2 and the onboard SCSI it says I have in Device
Manager is:
Adaptec AHA-2940U/2940UW/2940D PCI SCSI Controller.
I bought a Western Digital 9.15GB 10K RPM - Ultra2 LVD 50-pin WD Enterprise
SCSI drive. This was to be the fourth device and a 4 device SCSI cable thus
it was the last on the ribbon. But it is not recognized in the SCSI BIOS at
boot. The only jumper that I can see on the drive is a 0 TRGT INIT. It
came that way and I thought I'd just leave it be as I don't know what that
is. There are no jumpers on the drive for SCSI ID but there is a jumper on
the controller board asking it to be SCSI ID 1.
Did I purchase the wrong type of SCSI for my interface? If not any
suggestions how I can get it to be recognized? Thanks.

There is no terminnation. In the BIOS setup of the machine there is a
automatic termination available and that is set to enabled. Hence no
termination on the ribbon other than the last device on the ribbon will be
the harddrive I am asking about. Ftrom your response I get the idea that
this dive should work. Yes 50-pin SCSI LVD. I am reading it right off the
drive. No wait a 72-pin or 80 pin I don't know. Let me see if I can get
its specifications for you:
Here it is I think:
http://shop.resellerratings.com/FD-1701/PD-20107484/kworg-/vk-20107484
It's 80-pin sorry about that.

You are far too stupid to be using SCSI. Throw it all in the garbage.
Haven't you figure out the termination rules after all these months?

Of course it is, George, of course it is.
No you're not, you're having a ball, knowing that some stupid idiots still take your
stupid trolls seriously.
There's even an obvious new troll in that last line.
Like you wouldn't know that it's 80-pin because you spontaniously overlooked the
68->80 pin convertor that's connecting it to the cable.
Yup George, we immediately believe you on that. |

You know what the trouble is? You are dunces and you have no brains for
questions here. You have brains for what you think are intelligent
derrogatory remarks but for examining an issue that someones needs help with
you are all brainless. You cannot say, "I don't know I need more info" or
something rational such as that. But no you come across like you are
holding onto some valuable information that someone needs to bow to your
every whim just to get the troll repsonses and and excellent decriptionsof
your stupidity. Well thanks O' mighty ones.

Anyone who does not know whether their drive is 50/68/80 pin,
or which cable they plugged it into, will NOT get any help around here.
