XTASY Radeon X850XT |
|
|
I assembled a system Friday night adding an Intel 630 3 Gig CPU on an Intel
D915PBL mainboard and installing the XTASY Radeon X850XT. The system has
onboard 7.1 SS and all in all is a successful project. However I have no
idea how to get the best out of this card and I have never played a game or
even seen any great computer 3-D graphics. So, I am hoping someone here can
tell me of some game or application that would do the card and system
justice. Assembling this system was the result of a boring afternoon with
nothing to do.

This benchmark tool should have some fun with your insignificant rig ...

Are you looking for games to play or just to test the system and brag
about it? :)
I'd recommend Half-Life 2,Far Cry,Quake 4 if you'd like to try First
Person Shooters ,Fable: The Lost Chapters if you'd like RPGs (though
Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion is on the horizon, just about a month to the
official release ) and ,well, www.ign.com for any other game you are
looking for :)
Bye!

I wouldn't know who to brag to and what to say. The only games I even own
are still on disks that were included in whatever SW gives them away. I
guess I should just go to BestBuy and watch some of the kids play them. I
guess I am not looking for games. I am hoping this system will do good at
CAD applications with 'SolidWorks' and other 3-D design in the manufacturing
field.

I guess not to try a game or two would be an injustice to the card itself.
Thanks for the link.

fancy seeing you here.......:-). I am not much into actual games as I am
into simulators. MS Flight Simulator 2004 Century of Flight is good. It can
get addicting. I messed around with FS for a couple of years and wound up in
real flight school.......:-). Auto racing simulators are also interesting
and can be quite complex in getting a car setup and driveable. Both will
give your card and system a good workout.

Hey, I just posted to you in that other group. I like that idea of the |
flight sim. I did try one now that I remember. I forget the name but it was
an MS auto driving game that can be played online but was played in a
playroom I had set up for some young kids. Everyone had a great time.
Thanks for the tips. |

I know this is late in reply, but download the Truespace 6.6 demo and give it
a try. It is 3D modeling/animation/texturing at a sub pro level so the objects
are "heavier" so to speak.
