Fuji S5600 manual focus question ? |
|
|
Is there a way to manually set the focus on the Fuji Finepix S5600 to
infinite ?.
I got the camera yesterday and it's brilliant, but it falls way short on
manual focus. You have to first focus on something until the square in the
centre goes yellow, that's all well and good, but it would be much simpler
if there was a way to just set the focus to infinite (like the Canon A60 for
example). When i focus the camera as far as it will go (button to right) it
seems to take it beyond infinity !!! (i.e. either side of focus instead of
stopping at infinite focus).
The subjects i am capturing are the contrails left by aircraft and it won't
easily focus on smoke !!.
Kind Regards

It sounds like you have one of the typical problems that occur with zoom
lenses. The infinity focus setting is not always in focus at various zoom
settings. If you can lock the zoom, and use the manual focus to set for
infinity, and then lock it you may be ok.
The long term answer for you will likely be a camera with an optical
viewfinder of some type, that lets you set the focus to your satisfaction. I
have similar problems on occasion with an OLY 8080.

Cheers. Yeah, what makes it worse is the fact that there is no visual meter
to tell me exactly how far i am going each way with the focus. I have to
'listen' for clicks in the lens to know that i have reached the maximum
infinite focus then go back about 21 clicks (through a long process of trial
and error, i found this out !!). Then i usually find that at 10X optical
zoom, 21 clicks to the left should be in focus !!. But it's a BIG HASSLE
!!!!
Many Thanks
Andrew
