using SD memory card as portable storage device |
|
|
does anyone know of a way that i can store data on an SD 1GB card using
my canon ixus 40 as a medium?
in theory i figured i'd just be able to drag and drop data onto the
card, but i think the driver (or perhaps something else) is only
allowing media off the camera, not the other way round.
any advice on better drivers - i'm using the standard one that came on
the CD - or methods i may have overlooked would be much appreciated.

I use IGB microdrives in my Minolta and a card reader to PC. Cardreader +
1GB is 'seen'
as another drive. Drag and drop works fine like that. A card reader is cheap
enough
instead of camera and saves on batteries too?

In case RoJ isn't clear: buy a USB (preferably 2.0) card reader, put your |
card in it, plug it in to your XP machine, drag & drop. If you're not
using XP, you will have to use the driver that comes with the card
reader.

And make sure your card reader is high speed usb 2.0. There are a lot
of them out there that claim to be usb2.0 compliant, but are really
SLOW. And it's really difficult to tell from the ad.
Takes a LONG time to copy a gig of files to a slow reader.
