Hello,

I want to buy a scanner thats is portable,thin and the basic purpose is
to scan my 5-6 big books(1000 pages each) which have a lot of color
images as well into pdf format.Which scanner will be useful in this
case? Which scanner comes with the best software for such conversion?
or should I buy any software seperately.

Any advice from the group members is highly appreciated.

Mine is a tad huge these days but still works good enough for photos
so good the copy is still confused for being the original

Corel Draw 9's "Photo Paint" and a good 4800 X 2400 printer helps

Hi,

I've had HP OfficeJets which included ADF scanning. It worked well for
occasional scanning ( photographs or very low volume scanning). When
looking for a document imaging product, nothing found at retail outlets
(Staples, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.. ) can come close to the well
known manufacturers in the industry. The main players are Fujitsu,
Kodak, Bell & Howell, Cannon, and a couple others. Each manufacturer
has products which are more than capable of handling your current
scanning needs as well as future doument imaging needs.

I've been working for Fujitsu Computer Products of America for the last
4 years and have to admit that our products lead the industry in every
category: Document Handling ( reliable feeding), Image Quality (600 dpi
true optical), most scanners coming with at least 2 CCDs - Duplex
scanning (capturing both sides of a document on a single pass, and
speed (25 pages/Minute with our low end scanners) .

Pricing is going to be higher than you may be used to at the retail
stores... but, you honestly get what you pay for.
1. (around $100) Flatbed scanners at the store are a good solution for
scanning once in a while ( and only a handful of pages).

2. ( less than $400) all in one solutions- Fax/Print/copy/Scan: ADF low
to very low quality.. not to mention slow My officejet was about 4
pages/minute simplex

But, unless you have a lot of time to spend sitting at a scanner
feeding 1 page at a time, you'll discover that paying a bit more for a
fast, relaible, better quality prodcut will pay itself off within
days...

Scanner hardware is just one part of the solution. Document managment
is about the other 90% of the "solution". Give me a call anytime at my
